Medical Records & Privacy Analyst

The Medical Records & Privacy Analyst is responsible for the overall management of inbound and outbound paper and electronic medical record documentation and related requests.  These management functions include but are not limited to storage, retrieval and sending per company policy.  The Medical Records & Privacy Analyst will also assist the Deputy Officer with managing the Company-wide Privacy Program through maintaining compliance and privacy policies, monitoring for compliance with the privacy program and auditing privacy initiatives.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Initiate, control and appropriately manage in-bound and outbound patient medical record requests.
  • Ensure all patient medical records received are accurately logged within 48 business hours of receipt and requestors are invoiced in a timely manner if appropriate.
  • Obtain patient medical record requestor’s right to receive the patient’s records.
  • Responsible for logging, invoicing, tracking, and responding to patient medical record related requests.
  • Responds to requests for information from files according to established policies and procedures.
  • Frequently assists with special assignments /projects. 
  • Meets or Exceeds Standards for Quality.
  • Assists with information gathering and analysis related to patient medical record requests.
  • Researches regulatory, compliance and privacy related information to develop updates to practice, as directed.
  • Design, implement and audit Compliance and Privacy program solutions, as needed.
  • Address problems as they occur.  Keep manager advised of problems or concerns.
  • Performs other tasks as assigned to support the goals of the organization.

 

EDUCATION|EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma required, college degree preferred
  • 3+ years in relevant work experience is required
  • Experience in medical records, quality assurance, auditing, program evaluation and HIPAA privacy requirements is preferred

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Flexible, positive, excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Analytical skills related to independently interpreting, preparing and analyzing data
  • Good knowledge of medical terminology and clinical documentation
  • Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
