Executive in Residence – Media & Entertainment

Remote · USA Full-time New today

Job Overview Plan A Technologies is seeking an Executive in Residence (EiR) for our Media & Entertainment practice. This is a high-impact, 6-month residency designed for a C-suite leader (former CTO, CIO, or CEO) who has spent their career at the intersection of content creation, distribution, and technology. This role is part-time – usually under a 15 hour per week commitment. There are two components to the role: first, you’ll be providing high-stakes technology advice to existing clients and potential clients, and second, you’ll set up introductions to companies like streaming platforms, major studios, news organizations, talent agencies, amusement parks, and digital media innovators. Please note: Business development work is a required component of this position.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Advisory: Act as a senior advisor to help clients solve critical technology challenges, from OTT streaming architecture to AI-driven content moderation and cloud-based post-production workflows.
  • Partnership Development: Leverage your deep industry network to cultivate new strategic partnerships with broadcasters, production houses, talent agencies and interactive entertainment firms.
  • Strategic Growth: Advise the Plan A leadership team on market trends in the media sector (e.g., digital rights management, VR/AR media, and programmatic advertising) to help shape our service offerings.
  • Thought Leadership: Represent Plan A in high-level discussions and industry forums, contributing your expertise to help solve the most pressing challenges in the media and entertainment ecosystem.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Industry Tenure: At least 15 years of deep expertise in media or entertainment, especially on the technology side.
  • Leadership Pedigree: You must have served as an SV- level or C-level executive at a well-known company in the space.
  • Deep Network: A large, active network of close relationships across media C-suites, private equity groups in entertainment, and major creative agencies.
  • Technical Fluency: Profound understanding of media-specific software development, including integrations, DRM standards, and the security protocols required for high-value intellectual property.
  • Communication Mastery: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are required for both thought leadership content and high-level stakeholder discussions.

About The Company & Benefits Plan A Technologies is a high-velocity software development and technology advisory firm with staff in 40 countries around the world. • Pay: You’ll receive a mix of base stipend ($200/hour) and an uncapped commission percentage of revenue you bring to the company.
  • Location: Work From Home 100% of the time, or come into one of our global offices.
  • Culture & Perks: Join an upbeat work environment with a brand-new laptop and a generous vacation schedule.
