Contract Bookkeeper

Job Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Contract Bookkeeper to join our team! In this vital role, you will manage comprehensive bookkeeping functions for various client contracts, ensuring accurate financial record-keeping and compliance with accounting standards. This role includes performing bookkeeping services for small businesses throughout the US and is a 1099 contractor role. The contractor will be able to make their own schedule, work from home if desired, and is responsible for maintaining their own equipment and insurance. Compensation is a flat rate per client per month (or job for catch up work). This comes out to $30-$50+ per hour for competent bookkeepers. MUST apply through Indeed. • Maintain and update general ledger accounts using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Odoo, and similar platforms.
• Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy across all financial statements.
• Prepare and post journal entries, including debits and credits, to reflect accurate financial transactions.
• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes efficiently, ensuring timely payments and collections.
• Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and analyze account activity for discrepancies or irregularities.
• Support budgeting processes by providing detailed account analysis and assisting with financial forecasting (for select accounts).
• Generate comprehensive financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements in compliance with GAAP and/or IRC.
• Perform double-entry bookkeeping tasks with precision to maintain the integrity of financial data.

Requirements

• Proven experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles.
• MUST know the difference between debits and credits and be able to compile journal entries.
• Strong proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Odoo, or similar platforms.
• Solid understanding of GAAP standards, IRC, and technical accounting principles.
• Expertise in bank reconciliation, account analysis, general ledger accounting, and journal entries.
• Excellent skills in account reconciliation, balance sheet management, and financial report writing.
• Contractors wilp NOT be permitted to utilize unapproved software or AI in performing their duties for security purposes.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple client accounts simultaneously.
• Effective communication skills for collaborating with team members.
• Pass a proficiency test and a background test.
