Job Description: Our client is seeking an experienced Veterinary Medical Director to lead a well-established small animal practice while maintaining an active clinical role. This opportunity combines leadership responsibilities with hands-on veterinary care, allowing you to shape clinical standards, mentor colleagues, and contribute to the overall success of the hospital. You will play a key role in guiding the clinical team, supporting development, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care are consistently delivered. Alongside leadership duties, you will continue to practice medicine within a modern and well-equipped environment, working with a supportive team and a varied caseload that encourages both professional growth and collaboration. Responsibilities:

  • Providing clinical leadership and supporting the development of veterinary colleagues
  • Overseeing medical standards and ensuring high-quality patient care across the practice
  • Balancing leadership duties with hands-on clinical work in a busy setting
  • Collaborating with the wider management team to support operational success
  • Mentoring team members and fostering a positive, learning-focused culture

Qualifications

Needed:

  • A Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent qualification

Eligibility to practice in New Jersey with a current or obtainable license

  • Proven experience in a leadership or senior veterinary role
  • Strong clinical skills across general medicine and surgery
  • Excellent communication abilities with a collaborative and supportive approach
