Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Oversight & Signing: Review and sign federal/state tax returns and monthly financial statements. Ensure technical accuracy and GAAP compliance across all client work.
- Service Delivery Management: Oversee tax and accounting engagements for a diverse client portfolio, ensuring all monthly close and tax deadlines are met with consistency.
- People Leadership: Directly supervise Managers, Seniors, and Staff. Provide coaching and performance management, and play a key role in hiring and capacity planning.
- Operational Excellence: Monitor team utilization and realization. Identify workflow bottlenecks and implement process improvements to strengthen the firm's efficiency.
- Risk & Advisory: Serve as the primary technical escalation point for the team, exercising independent professional judgment to manage risk and solve complex client issues.
Qualifications
- Credentials:Active CPA license in good standing is required.
- Experience:10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting, including significant experience as a signing tax preparer.
- Leadership: Proven track record of supervising, mentoring, and developing accounting and tax professionals.
- Technical Breadth: Strong working knowledge of both tax compliance and GAAP financial reporting for small and midsize businesses.
- Soft Skills: A calm, steady presence under pressure and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-financial business owners.
