Staff Accountant, Revenue Accounting

The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey is a key player in transportation and trade infrastructure, and they are seeking a Staff Accountant for their Revenue Accounting team. This role involves ensuring the accuracy of Port Commerce revenues, preparing journal entries, and assisting in month-end closing processes.

Responsibilities

• Interpretation, review and SAP approval of Port Commerce leases with fixed and percentage fee provisions and various other Port Commerce related revenues such as dockage/wharfage and Cargo Facility Charges
• Updating Consumer Price Index tables for rent escalations for fixed rent roll monthly
• Preparing journal entries for month-end closing
• Preparing monthly, semi-annual and year-end revenue variance analyses
• Helping Properties staff in resolving billing discrepancies and tenant inquiries
• Completing special project assignments as required

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or Corporate Finance from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience
• In lieu of bachelor's degree a minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience can be accepted
• Applicants must meet all performance and attendance standards and have completed all probationary periods
• Knowledge of Port Authority accounting and financial structure
• Knowledge of Port Authority businesses and operations
• Knowledge of GAAP as it relates to the Port Authority
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work independently and prioritize tasks
• Demonstrated strong analytical skills in reconciling financial information
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate complex information clearly and accurately
• Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to interact effectively with internal and external staff at all levels
• Working knowledge of SAP
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
