Dietitian, Outpatient Counseling - Remote

Job title: Registered Dietitian Nutritionist

• 100% Remote (must reside in Hawaii)
• Non-exempt, W2 position
• 38-40 hours per week (25 client sessions/week minimum)

Requirements:

• Bilingual Spanish Speaking (bonus)
• Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field (required)
• Currently registered as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) as defined by the California Business and Professional Code
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with basic computer skills and working knowledge various software applications and electronic medical record charting
• Experience working in a nutrition counseling role in groups or individual setting (required)
• Experience with underserved, low income and minority populations (preferred)
• Understanding of motivational interviewing, Intuitive Eating and Health at Every Size.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide one-on-one Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) and nutritional screening utilizing the Nutrition Care Process (NCP) at all times during the client's health care continuum and for all nutrition related disease states.

(This not only includes pediatrics, perinatal nutrition, general adult nutrition and aging/geriatrics, but also from an informed perspective concerning all gender identities, sexual orientations, cultural backgrounds, ethnic groups and socio-economic statuses.)

• Ensure correct and timely documentation in the client’s electronic medical record, utilize appropriate organizational electronic communication systems, and communicate by other appropriate means on the client plan of care.
• Confer with, serve as a resource for, and communicate effectively & compassionately with providers/specialists, the client’s care team, the client(s), and the client’s family/pertinent persons regarding plan of care and critical information as appropriate.
• Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings as appropriate to discuss complex client cases with other entries/partners in the community.
• Collaborate with and refer clients to external services, programs, agencies and Providers as warranted.
• Assist and/or lead in developing/revising nutrition related educational materials, curriculum and marketing materials.
• Show initiative for ongoing professional development and continuing education by review of literature/professional journals, attend conferences/programs to update knowledge and skills, and continuously seek to improve and maintain professional competence.
• Follow As You Are Nutrition guidelines, standards of conduct, policies, procedures, and protocols for client care and service quality.
• Participate in and attend all meetings as requested, including but not limited to staff meetings, supervision meetings, local care team meetings.
• Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
