About arenaflex

arenaflex is a global leader in aviation services, renowned for delivering safe, reliable, and customer‑focused travel experiences. Our Operations Analytics (OA) team powers the strategic decisions that keep our flights on time, our customers happy, and our business thriving. As the industry continues to evolve, data has become the engine that drives operational excellence, and arenaflex is at the forefront of that transformation. We are looking for talented, self‑motivated data professionals who want to work remotely while contributing to a mission‑critical function that shapes the future of air travel.

Why This Role Matters

In the fast‑paced world of airline operations, every minute counts. The Data Engineer you will become is the guardian of the “single source of truth” – the curated data tables that analytics teams rely on to generate insights, build predictive models, and recommend process improvements. By designing scalable pipelines, automating reporting, and championing modern data technologies, you will directly influence the efficiency of flight schedules, crew assignments, maintenance planning, and passenger experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, extract, and ingest data from a wide variety of internal and external sources, including flight operations systems, crew management tools, and customer feedback platforms.
  • Clean, transform, and curate datasets to ensure accuracy, consistency, and readiness for analysis; develop reusable data models that support both ad‑hoc queries and enterprise‑wide reporting.
  • Collaborate with analytics engineers, business intelligence developers, and product owners to design and maintain automated reporting solutions that deliver actionable insights to senior leadership.
  • Leverage emerging technologies—such as cloud‑based data warehouses, streaming platforms, and AI‑enabled data quality tools—to continuously improve data pipelines and reduce latency.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of learning, curiosity, and best‑in‑class data practices.
  • Champion security‑first behaviors, ensuring that all data handling complies with industry regulations, privacy standards, and arenaflex’s internal policies.
  • Act as a liaison between data engineering and business stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into clear, business‑focused language.
  • Thrive in a high‑visibility environment with shifting priorities, tight deadlines, and the need to balance multiple projects simultaneously.

Minimum Qualifications (What You Need to Succeed)

  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience in data engineering or a related field, preferably within a large‑scale operational environment.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL and experience designing ETL/ELT pipelines using industry‑standard tools.
  • Solid programming skills in Python, SAS, or comparable languages; ability to write clean, maintainable code for data transformation and automation.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and optimize reporting database environments, ensuring high performance and reliability.
  • Self‑starter attitude with a solution‑oriented mindset; capable of managing multiple initiatives with competing timelines.
  • Commitment to safety and data privacy, consistently prioritizing the protection of people, assets, and sensitive information.
  • Excellent communication skills, a collaborative team‑first attitude, and a genuine curiosity to ask questions and explore new ideas.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent; additional education or certifications are a plus.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States and at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications (Competitive Edge)

  • Bachelor’s degree or certifications in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Prior experience in the airline or transportation industry, providing insight into the unique challenges of flight operations.
  • Hands‑on experience with cloud‑based data platforms such as arenaflex, arenaflex, or arenaflex, including data lake, warehouse, and orchestration services.

Core Skills & Competencies

  • Data Modeling: Ability to design logical and physical data models that support both transactional and analytical workloads.
  • Automation: Experience building CI/CD pipelines for data workflows, leveraging tools like Airflow, dbt, or similar orchestration frameworks.
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical mindset to diagnose data quality issues, performance bottlenecks, and integration challenges.
  • Collaboration: Proven track record of working cross‑functionally with product, engineering, and business teams.
  • Communication: Ability to convey technical concepts to non‑technical audiences, creating clear documentation and visualizations.
  • Adaptability: Comfort operating in a remote, fast‑changing environment while maintaining high productivity.
