BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee (BCBST) is seeking a skilled and compassionate Behavioral Health Case Manager to join the FEP Population Health team. This role supports members with behavioral health needs and conditions , ensuring they receive timely, coordinated, and high‑quality care. Team members play a critical role in guiding individuals through complex behavioral health situations while delivering a compassionate and seamless member experience. The ideal candidate brings a strong background in behavioral health and telephonic member engagement, with FEP experience considered a valuable asset. They are energized by meaningful member interactions and excel at empathetic listening, clear communication, and proactive problem solving. A Certified Case Manager (CCM) credential is highly preferred, along with adaptability, initiative, and experience managing complex behavioral health patient needs. Note: RN Case Managers must be available for occasional late‑shift rotation (9 am–6 pm Central / 10 am–7 pm Eastern). Although we are based in Chattanooga, TN, this is a fully remote role. Job Responsibilities Supporting utilization management functions for more complex and non-routine cases as needed. Serving as a liaison between members, providers and internal/external customers in coordination of health care delivery and benefits programs. Overseeing highly complex cases identified through various mechanisms to ensure effective implementation of interventions, and to ensure efficient utilization of benefits. Performing the essential activities of case management: assessment: planning, implementation, coordinating, monitoring, outcomes and evaluation. Perform case management activities in community settings including face to face with members as required. Various immunizations and/or associated medical tests may be required for this position. Testing/Assessments will be required for Digital positions. Job Qualifications License Current, active unrestricted Tennessee license in Nursing (RN) or behavioral health field (Master's level or above) (Ph.D., LCSW/LMSW, LLP, MHC, LPC, etc.) required. RN may hold a license in the state of their residence if the state is participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact Law. Experience 3 years - Clinical behavioral health / substance use disorder experience required 1 year - Must be knowledgeable about community care resources and levels of behavioral health care available. Experience with Motivational Interviewing Techniques and Adult Learning Styles SkillsCertifications Currently has a Certified Case Manager (CCM) credential or must obtain certification within 2 years of hire. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint) Independent, Sound decision-making and problem-solving skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Strong interpersonal and organizational skills Strong analytical skills Positive relationship building skills and ability to engage and motivate health behaviors in diverse populations Ability to quickly identify and prioritize member needs and provide structured and focused support and interventions Employees who are required to operate either a BCBST-owned vehicle or a personal or rental vehicle for company business on a routine basis* will be automatically enrolled into the BCBST Driver Safety Program. The employee will also be required to adhere to the guidelines set forth through the program. This includes, maintaining a valid driver’s license, auto insurance compliance with minimum liability requirements; as defined in the “Use of Non BCBST-Owned Vehicle” Policy (for employees driving personal or rental vehicles only); and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR). *The definition for "routine basis" is defined as daily, weekly or at regularly schedule times.
