Within the Students Directorate, the Student Service SPOT culture plays a key role in delivering coordinated, high-quality advising services that support students from enrolment through to completion. About Student Service SPOT The Student Service SPOT is the primary access point for student support, providing advice, guidance and assistance across all stages of the student journey. It delivers personalised support at critical moments – helping students navigate enrolment, commencement, progression and re-enrolment – while connecting them with specialist services when needed. Accessible via phone, online, face-to-face and self-service channels, SPOT provides a seamless and responsive experience that helps students stay on track and succeed. About the Position The Deputy Director, Student Advising is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategy, performance and continuous improvement of CQUniversity’s student advising services. You will lead a geographically dispersed team to deliver a consistent, high-quality advising experience that supports student success, satisfaction and retention. A key priority will be strengthening the Student Service SPOT model through data-informed decision-making, service innovation and effective collaboration across the University. As a member of the Directorate’s leadership team, you will contribute to institutional strategy, policy and service design, while fostering a culture of service excellence and continuous improvement. Key focus areas include: Leading the strategic direction and optimisation of student advising services. Using data and insights to improve student outcomes and experience. Collaborating across academic and professional areas to enhance the student journey. Overseeing service design, programs and initiatives aligned to student needs. Managing resources and workforce planning to support sustainable service delivery. Building capability and performance across a diverse, multi-campus team. Proven success in leading customer-focused service functions, including strategy development, operational delivery and resource management. Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire high-performing, geographically dispersed teams. Highly developed interpersonal, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, including influencing at senior levels. Strong analytical capability with experience using data to inform strategy and continuous improvement. Desirable: Deep understanding of the Australian tertiary education sector and student advising practices. Knowledge of contemporary student success, retention and engagement strategies.
