Position Overview

The Remote Pharmacy Customer Service Associate plays an essential role in supporting pharmacy operations and ensuring that every customer interaction reflects arenaflex's commitment to excellence. This position combines data entry responsibilities with customer service duties, prescription processing support, inventory management, and general store operations. Working remotely, you will collaborate with pharmacists, pharmacy leadership, and fellow team members to maintain efficient workflow and deliver a superior experience to customers and patients alike.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Experience and Service Delivery

  • Model and deliver a distinctive, high-quality customer experience that reflects arenaflex's service values, including greeting customers warmly, maintaining eye contact during interactions, demonstrating courtesy, and proactively offering assistance.
  • Engage customers and patients by welcoming them and offering help with products and services, ensuring a positive and memorable experience with every interaction.
  • Resolve customer issues efficiently and answer inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and accuracy to ensure complete satisfaction.
  • Share customer service best practices with team members, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and service excellence.
  • Recommend available products to customers and suggest complementary or companion items to enhance their shopping experience.
  • Provide gracious, friendly, fast, and efficient service to all customers, regardless of the nature of their inquiry.

Sales and Transaction Processing

  • Register customer purchases on assigned cash register, collect payment, and distribute change as needed.
  • Process voids, returns, delays, refunds, and exchanges accurately and in accordance with company procedures.
  • Direct customers to the over-the-counter (OTC) aisle when possible to assist them in locating products.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well-merchandised counters and shelves to support a pleasant shopping environment.
  • Perform duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Senior Supervisor, including using pharmacy systems to enter patient and medication information, ensuring data accuracy, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, and verifying that medications are correct.

Pharmacy Operations Support

  • Assist pharmacists, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions with precision and care.
  • Check for potential drug interactions and report any prescription errors immediately to the on-duty pharmacist, adhering to arenaflex's policies and procedures related to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.
  • Review and follow arenaflex's Pharmacy Governing Code of Conduct as well as policies regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all prescription-dispensing activities.
  • Handle calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist, including calls to physicians and other healthcare providers.
  • Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner, and perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.

Inventory and Store Management

  • Support the Pharmacy Department in inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of medications.
  • Maintain knowledge of company asset protection procedures, and document claims for warehouse overages, shortages, ordering errors, or damaged goods, including prescription medications.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products such as alcoholic beverages and tobacco products.
  • Build and maintain product displays, including promotional, seasonal, super-aisle, and sale merchandise, and complete resets and revisions as directed.
  • Assist in the separation of food items as specified by company policies and procedures, and help with product placement, restocking, and rotation using the first-in, first-out (FIFO) method for edible items.
  • Maintain working knowledge of store systems and equipment to effectively perform assigned tasks.

Photo Services and Online Order Fulfillment

  • Provide customer service in the photo department, including digital photo identification services, poster printing, and creative machine operations, while effectively selling promotional photo products.
  • Take on online order responsibilities by monitoring orders in the Picture Care system, fulfilling pick requests, and delivering orders to customers as they arrive at the store.

General Store Support

  • Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure a clean, neat, and organized store environment and appearance.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, and maintain respectful relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • Complete special projects and other tasks as assigned by leadership.

Training and Professional Development

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (this requirement does not apply to candidates in Puerto Rico).
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours, to meet the needs of the business.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while staying connected to the broader team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least six months of experience in a retail environment.
  • Prior work experience with arenaflex or a similar pharmacy retail organization.
  • Strong mathematical skills for accurately filling prescriptions, including counting, measuring, and weighing medications.
  • Solid computer skills, including familiarity with data entry systems, point-of-sale software, and basic office applications.
  • Knowledge of store inventory control processes and best practices.
  • Current PTCB certification is strongly preferred.
