[Remote] Senior Accountant
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Penn Foster Group is transforming online learning to help learners by bringing together various education platforms. The Senior Accountant will support revenue accounting and analysis for the company's B2C operations, partnering closely with the Senior Accounting Manager on financial reporting, compliance, audits, account reconciliations, and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements, reports, and supporting analyses in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- Support B2C revenue accounting and monthly revenue calculations
- Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analyses as part of the monthly and annual close process
- Support audit and compliance activities through preparation of schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
- Research technical accounting issues and assist with implementation of process improvements
- Independently manage workload and deadlines during peak accounting close periods
- Quickly learn and navigate accounting systems, processes, and reporting tools with minimal supervision
- Maintain proactive communication and collaborate effectively within a remote-first team environment
- Support special projects and ad hoc financial analyses as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
- 4+ years of progressive accounting experience required
- Hands-on experience with financial statement preparation, account reconciliations, and compliance reporting required
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, adapt quickly to new systems and processes, and maintain accountability in a remote work environment
- Strong sense of ownership, initiative, and follow-through, particularly during critical close periods
- Ability to manage changing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Interest in leveraging AI and automation tools to improve processes and drive efficiencies
- Public accounting experience at a mid-tier or regional firm (e.g., RSM, BDO, Grant Thornton, or similar) strongly preferred
- CPA license preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems such as Dynamics 365, NetSuite, or AS400
