[Remote] Senior Healthcare Integration Engineer

Intellias is transforming the future of healthcare connectivity by seeking a Senior Healthcare Integration Engineer to build and scale next-generation healthcare data exchange solutions. The role involves designing and implementing interoperability solutions that ensure secure, real-time access to healthcare data at scale.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop real-time health data exchange solutions supporting large-scale healthcare ecosystems
- Build and maintain Patient Access APIs, Provider Directory APIs, and Bulk FHIR APIs aligned with CMS interoperability requirements
- Develop integrations with major healthcare data sources, including EMRs, HIEs, laboratories, pharmacies, payers, and digital health platforms
- Implement FHIR R4 and US Core standards across enterprise integration solutions
- Design scalable data pipelines to support secure and compliant healthcare data exchange
Skills
- Healthcare Interoperability Experience: 6+ years of experience in healthcare interoperability, health IT, or healthcare software engineering
- 4+ years of hands-on experience implementing FHIR-based solutions utilizing FHIR R4
- Proven experience building and supporting production healthcare data exchange systems
- Experience integrating with major EMR/EHR platforms such as Epic, Oracle Cerner, athenahealth, Meditech, eClinicalWorks, NextGen, or similar
- Experience implementing Patient Access APIs, Bulk FHIR APIs, or other CMS interoperability solutions
- Experience working with health information exchanges (HIEs), healthcare networks, or large-scale interoperability ecosystems
- Deep expertise in HL7 FHIR R4, including resources, profiles, extensions, search parameters, and Bulk Data APIs
- Strong understanding of US Core Implementation Guides and USCDI standards
- Experience implementing SMART on FHIR authorization workflows
- Strong knowledge of HL7 v2.x messaging standards
- Experience working with CDA/C-CDA documents and FHIR conversion processes
- Familiarity with healthcare terminologies such as SNOMED CT, LOINC, RxNorm, ICD-10, CPT, and CVX
- Experience with national interoperability networks such as Carequality, CommonWell, eHealth Exchange, or TEFCA
- Experience with Apache Spark and large-scale data processing
- Knowledge of healthcare identity management and patient matching solutions
- Experience with consent management frameworks and healthcare data governance
- Experience with Da Vinci implementation guides, including CDex, PDex, HRex, DTR, or PAS
- Experience integrating payer, pharmacy, laboratory, wearable, or remote monitoring data
- Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools and modern engineering practices
- HL7 FHIR certification or participation in HL7 working groups
