[Remote] Utility Project Manager
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. KGDR Consultants Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Manager with a background in utility development to lead the planning, execution, and delivery of transmission, distribution, and substation projects. The ideal candidate will manage end-to-end project delivery while coordinating with various teams to ensure compliance with utility standards and successful project completion.
Responsibilities
- Manage end to end project delivery across utility development projects including transmission, distribution, substation, renewable energy, and grid modernization
- Lead project planning, scope development, budgeting, scheduling, and risk management
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, permitting, environmental, real estate, and field teams to ensure all project milestones are met
- Review design packages, construction drawings, outage plans, and technical submittals
- Track project progress through schedules, cost reports, and status dashboards
- Oversee contractor performance, change orders, invoices, and procurement of materials
- Facilitate project meetings and communication between internal teams, clients, and external agencies
- Ensure compliance with utility standards, safety requirements, and regulatory guidelines
- Identify risks, develop mitigation strategies, and escalate issues as needed
- Support forecasting, reporting, and project closeout documentation
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or related field
- 10+ years of project management experience in utilities, energy, or infrastructure
- Strong understanding of utility design, construction sequencing, and permitting processes
- Proficiency in project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera P6, or equivalent
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize workload in a fast paced environment
- PMP certification is preferred but not required
- Experience coordinating outages or working with transmission and distribution systems is a plus
- Familiarity with utility standards and processes such as QAQC, commissioning, and energization
- Strong problem solving ability, attention to detail, and financial acumen
