Customer Service Representative I

PRIMARY DUTY: This position will begin training in one of the following areas based on department need with the expectation of following a scheduled training program towards mastering the remaining areas: Utility Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to the public by establishing new utility accounts, service transfers, and closing of accounts. Handles utility payments using established cash handling procedures, performs accurate data entry, and assist customers in resolving billing inquiries and meter-related issues. Customer Service 311: Provides excellent customer service to the public by promptly responding to requests for basic information through high volume phone calls and online inquiries, and process various citywide service requests. Work collaboratively with different departments to ensure efficient resolution of service requests. Proficiently operate the customer relationship management system by accurately inputting personal, geographical, and incident-specific information. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
  • Tyler Munis/ERP computer programs.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One-year experience in a general office environment.
  • Previous call taking or customer relation management experience (preferred).
  • A combination of education, experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
