About the position
The Environmental Program Specialist 1/Trainee position is part of the New York HELPS program, focusing on environmental conservation and compliance. Responsibilities
- Perform technical evaluation of applications for air pollution control permits and registrations. ,
- Draft air pollution control permits and registrations using applicable regulations. ,
- Conduct field inspections at regulated facilities to determine compliance with regulations and permit conditions. ,
- Investigate air quality complaints reported by the public. ,
- Prepare written reports and recommendations of compliance status for supervisor review. ,
- Assist staff and the Office of General Counsel in air enforcement cases. ,
- Manage files, including electronic files and FOIL requests.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as environmental science, biology, or engineering. ,
- 1 year of qualifying experience for Trainee 2 or 2 years for EPS 1. ,
- Valid driver's license.
