Position Overview

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in both the automated and manual testing space, with a strong understanding of fintech standards and expectations. You'll be a key part of our product development lifecycle, ensuring that both our customer-facing products and backend services are robust, secure, and user-friendly.

The ideal candidate is someone who's comfortable with rapid development cycles, has a strong foundation in modern web technologies, and can adapt to new technical challenges. 

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for web (e.g. experience with Cypress, Selenium)
• Develop and maintain automated backend and API test suites using technologies like JUnit, AssertJ, REST Assured, and Mockito
• Contribute to contract testing using Pact tests
• Execute manual and automated tests for RESTful APIs and backend services, including negative paths, edge cases, and error handling
• Conduct performance and load testing validating SLAs and identifying bottlenecks
• Implement and work with CI/CD pipelines (Bitbucket Pipelines, GitHub Actions) to integrate test automation into the deployment process
• Apply BDD practices (e.g. Cucumber, Gherkin) where applicable to improve collaboration and clarity on expected behaviours
• Use Postman or similar tools to test RESTful APIs manually and validate payloads, headers, authentication flows (e.g. OAuth2)
• Collaborate with developers to troubleshoot test failures, analyse logs, and refine system observability
• Maintain high standards for quality, security, and compliance—particularly around data handling in a fintech environment

Required Experience & Qualifications

• 4+ years' experience in quality assurance and software testing
• Proven ability to design and implement both automated and manual test cases
• Hands-on experience with Cypress and/or Selenium for web UI automation
• Comfortable using Postman, Swagger, or similar tools for API testing (manual and automated)
• Familiarity with BDD methodologies and frameworks (Cucumber, Gherkin syntax, etc.)
• Strong experience with Postman, Swagger/OpenAPI, or similar API tools
• Proficient in Java-based testing tools (JUnit, AssertJ, Mockito, REST Assured)
• Strong understanding of web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and RESTful APIs
• Solid understanding of HTTP, JSON, and web technologies
• Experience testing web applications across multiple browsers/devices
• Proficiency with bug tracking tools like Jira 
• Exposure to CI tools such as GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins, etc.
• Familiarity with security and compliance considerations in testing (e.g. data masking)

Preferred Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent  
• Knowledge of payment systems or fintech industry 
• Understanding of security best practices 
• Basic coding/scripting ability (JavaScript, Java, Python or similar)
• Knowledge of AWS or cloud-based infrastructure
• Bonus: Eexperience in fintech or SaaS environments
