We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team at Duluth Public Schools. As a paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting special education teachers and students with diverse needs, helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Job Summary:

As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will assist special education teachers in meeting the educational, emotional, and physical needs of students with special needs. You will help guide students through daily activities, implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs), and maintain a balanced approach to learning that supports age and grade-appropriate behavior and thinking.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist special education teachers with lesson plans and activities
  • Support students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities
  • Implement IEPs and help students achieve their goals
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience as a teacher's assistant or in a related field
  • 60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits of college or a passing score on the ParaPro assessment
  • Ability to work cooperatively with children and adults
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
