About the Role

As a Senior Distributed Systems Engineer, you'll focus on designing, building, and improving our distributed systems infrastructure, with a emphasis on scalability, reliability, and performance. You'll work on exciting projects, such as:

• Database Access Platform: Building a flexible query gateway that enables sub-millisecond latencies and facilitates data abstraction for Netflix microservices.
• Data Platform Foundation: Developing high-impact infrastructure, control, and deployment systems that enable rapid innovation and scalability for our data platforms.
• Big Data Compute: Providing a cloud-native platform for distributed data processing, supporting batch and real-time data processing, and collaborating with open-source communities to shape the future of big data technologies.
• Big Data Orchestration: Designing and building platforms for scheduling, coordinating, and executing large-scale data workflows and jobs, with a focus on self-service, scalability, and minimal user intervention.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and improve distributed systems infrastructure to support business growth and scalability.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, product managers, and TPMs, to drive innovation and excellence.
• Contribute to open-source communities and share your experiences with the Netflix OSS ecosystem.
• Participate in the development of large-scale distributed systems features and applications, applying your programming and problem-solving skills to drive business outcomes.

Requirements

• 2+ years of experience building large-scale distributed systems features or applications.
• Strong expertise in designing and developing RESTful web services.
• Experience building and operating scalable, fault-tolerant, distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Java or other object-oriented programming languages.
• Comfortable with multi-threading and concurrency challenges.
• BS in Computer Science or a related field.
